Where do we even start?

Every woman and girl has a different story shaped by her unique personality, set of experiences, biology, family background, spirituality, and relationships. There are so many elements that comprise who you are that set you apart. I take all of these things into account in order to gain the fullest possible picture of what makes you, "you".

We will explore these core areas in our first few sessions, and the rest usually unfolds organically. You might have somewhere specific in mind that you want to start, but if you don't, that's okay too. All you have to do is be open to the process and something will come to mind. It may even surprise you! I'm consistently amazed by how often I get to the end of a session with someone who exclaims "I don't even know how we got here!" or "I had no idea all of those things were inside me."

I work with women and girls from all walks of life - college students, high schoolers, young marrieds, mothers, single professionals, divorcees, grandmothers, empty-nesters - whatever the stage in your life, I’d be honored to journey with you!

My style is...

...warm, engaging, and real. I really try to understand and even feel what you are going through - to go to those painful places with you. At the same time, I won't shy away from asking you hard questions, giving you honest feedback, and challenging you as I see fit. We'll do the hard work of change and growth together as a team, and we'll probably laugh a lot in the process. My goal is to create a beautiful and hospitable space where you can feel at comfortable and at ease, to come as you are in your truest self and breathe a sigh of relief.

What I bring...

I bring to the therapy room an extensive background of learning about and engaging with issues that are specific to women and girls, so nothing you could say would shock me. I've taken academic courses, led groups, given talks, attended conferences, and traveled the world wanting to understand my experience - and those of others - as a woman in the modern world. This knowledge and perspective has helped me time and time again in my work with women from all walks of life.

I use this background, along with my training and my own experience in therapy, to help you learn a whole new way of relating to your self and others. This means learning to be more gentle with yourself and taking practical steps to care for yourself, even if it feels uncomfortable at first. I will give you tools to help you identify where things have gone wrong in your relationships and teach you how to start trusting yourself and valuing yourself in specific situations. This means exploring your emotions, teaching you how to be present with yourself when you feel overwhelmed or anxious, and helping you to get your needs met in relationships (that's right, you have needs too!).

I see my role as helping you to tap into the capacity you already have to live from your truest and most authentic self in all of your relationships and in any situation you may find yourself in.

The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.
